UNDERSTANDING STOP AND EXPOSURE TRIANGLE IN PHOTOGRAPHY

Posted at 12:20 AM by Unknown
In the Photography, the word "stop" are the words that we often read and hear. I'm not talking about the "stop". Stop on photography is a term. Examples of the use of stop words in the world of photography for example: because the pictures look over, I was sent down one stop. That's what I mean.

If you do not understand what I mean, consider the following brief explanation:

Stop Definition
Stop in photography about meaningful change the amount of light received by the sensor / film thus affecting exposure photographs. Add a stop means more light 2 times, plus 2 stop brighter means 4 times. Means subtract one stop darker and a half times. One stop means changing the amount of light as a multiple of 2.

You surely already know, the amount of light received by the sensor we call exposure. And ride one stop means increased exposure 2 times. Action to raise or reduce the exposure can be done by changing one or a combination of three elements that make up the triangle of exposure: shutter speed, aperture and ISO. (Further described in this article: Understanding Exposure).

Still difficult to understand it? okay one more parable so clearly. At your room, you have 4 lamp with 100 watt and lit it. Because the stop was illegal change of light, then go down one stop means you can turn off two lights so that only two lights. While the rise of the stop means you have to take 4 lamp again with the same wattage. In this case, the room is a sensor in digital cameras and the lights are its exposure.

Stop and Shutter Speed
how long the shutter speed measuring sensor receiving the light. The longer the shutter speed means more light is received by the sensor means to increase exposure. The shutter speed, a full stop is easy to remember because it is the result of the division of two numbers (with rounding): 1,1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, ff. Move the stop means jump once, for example from 1/30 to 1/125. Move 2 stop means jump twice. Confused with the shutter speed, the concept is more clearly understood here.

Stop and ISO
ISO is also easy, just time 2 means you ride one stop. ISO 100 to ISO 200 means one-stop, 200 to 400 and beyond. When asked how many stops from ISO 100 to 1600? nah smart, there are four stop. Understand the concept of ISO here.

Stop and Aperture
Somewhat more difficult in the aperture karena bilangannya jump: f / 1, f/1.4, f / 2, f/2.8, f / 4, f/5.6, f / 8, f/11, f/16 and so on. Aperture longer understand the concept here.

What is the relationship Stop With All three?
Say you use the camera initial setting like this: 1/125, f / 8 and ISO 100. Up one stop can mean three things: 1/250, f / 8, ISO 100 (only shutter to change). Or 1/125, f/5.6 ISO 100 (only the aperture is changed). Or 1/125, f / 8 ISO 200 (ISO just changed).
