Tripod Head
After at the last article we discussed the tripod in general (you can read here), now we will focus on the tripod head. If you decide to buy a tripod with no head (tripod head) congenital, meaning you have to buy separately in addition to the tripod head itself. Tripod head there are two categories:
- Ball Head Tripod
- Pan Tilt Head Tripod

Ball Tripod Head
Ball Head
Ball Head tripod head types using a simple mechanism so that movement of the ball and socket allows the camera to move in any orientation. The main advantage is the type of ball head because it uses a simple mechanism, it is usually very stable type of ball head. Once the position is locked, then the camera will be completely calm and nodded again. Another advantage is, because it involves only a few moving parts, it will be more durable and relatively clean always.

The main disadvantages of this type is when we move the camera position. Because the mechanism of a ball, then when we loosen the lock he was moving in the direction of two axes at the same time, vertical and the horizontal axis. Suppose we want to tilt the camera, when we tilt the horizontal level was also changed.

Pan Tilt Head
Pan Tilt Head
This type of tripod head Pan Tilt Head is kind of a far more thorough than the type of ball head. When we want to carefully control the position of this kind are more accommodating, because each axis has a key. The horizontal axis has its own key, same with the vertical axis.

Disadvantages of Pan Tilt Head is its physical size is usually much larger and heavier than other types of Ball head. Types Pan Tilt Head with affordable prices are also more volatile than other types of Ball Head with the same price.
Other Considerations

Just like when choosing a tripod legs, choose any tripod head you should consider the following:

  • Weight, Weight tripod head should be a consideration, especially if you take outdoors pictures. Taking photos is fun, but if it's called excruciating pain :D.
  • Load capacity, as well as the head of the tripod legs tripod also has a maximum load capacity specifications can she bear. Calculate the weight back to the camera and your heaviest lens.
  • Mounting Bracket, mounting bracket is attached to the camera plate. Sometimes these things always stick to getting on camera because we are lazy to take it off (take off requires a screwdriver or a coin). Nevertheless, the tripod head mounting bracket that provides so much better than the tripod head screw which only provide direct camera attached (very inconvenient when installing and removing). So, look for a tripod head with a mounting bracket that is most comfortable for you.
