Tripod |
Tripod is often a mandatory equipment in photography, in my previous articles have discussed 12 reasons why you should buy a tripod. Well in this article we will explore what features you need to evaluate before buying a tripod.
Tripod Weight
How heavy your tripod? Heavier tripod to give extra stability, but if it's too heavy can also torture when an object image taken hunting. If you just use a tripod at home or studio to shoot the heaviest tripod you can buy all you want, but when taken away to the beach or the mountains, try to find a tripod with aluminum or carbon fiber is much lighter.
Load Capacity
Before buying a tripod try to calculate the weight of some of your equipment: a camera body, you have the heaviest lens, flash (if necessary) and the tripod head (tripod if you buy does not have a head the default) then the total weight of these instruments. Now try to find a tripod with the specifications of the load capacity slightly above the total weight of your instrument earlier. Lot of a tripod in the market are designed to withstand heavy loads, but if you only have light equipment for what the extra money to spend to buy a tripod that far exceeds the capacity you need.
Tripod Head (Head) Built-in
If the tripod to be purchased has a congenital head, check the stability and robustness of the head. Tripod head is not good usually still "nodded" slightly despite all the locks are fastened.
Separate Head Tripod
This type is more expensive tripod would not provide the default head, they just give the external head screws which can be installed and you still have to buy a separate head. The only type of intangible tripod legs gives several advantages:
- We can buy the kind of head needs
- We can use the head to suit different shooting situations changing, for example, when using the camera for video would need a different head when photographing
Middle column
Some tripods have a column (small feet) of additional existing in the middle, usually can be pulled up. This column can indeed increase the height of the tripod, but also can reduce the stability when used in such windy conditions.
Tripod Height
Tripods are available with a variety of maximum height. The greater the maximum height tripod shooting more and more types of situations that can be on the cover. But also increasingly bulky and heavy tripod so that less and less portable. Find matches your needs.
The legs can be stretched
Some tripods have legs that can be stretched so that it can be installed on a sloping surface, if you shoot a lot of this landscape can be an advantage.
Segment Number of Legs
The number of segments (chunks) leg of a tripod can be two or three or even four. Increasingly smaller segments of the tripod legs on the bottom so that the more unstable, but many segments also makes the tripod more streamlined so that more and more comfortable to carry.
Load Hangers
Some of the tripod gives a hook at the bottom of the middle column, we can use extra burden to add stability when needed for example when we take pictures in the blustery weather or when you take pictures in the middle of a sweep of the waves. Where necessary, look for a tripod that provides this feature.
